How to search for RF Power Detectors

RF Detectors are devices used to measure the power of a signal. For amplitude modulation this can be done by detecting the voltage, but when the measured parameter is the signals power, it needs to be translated into a more useful form.

Some important parameters while searching for rf detectors are:

Frequency (MHz): This is the frequency over which the detector will accurately detect the power level of a signal. The detector must be fast enough to extract the signals amplitude and must provide a constant response over the desired frequency range.

Sensitivity (mV/mW): This is the ability of the rf detector to detect and return useful information from a very low power input signal. This parameter is measured in mV/mW and is one of the most important parameters when selecting a detector.
