How to select an 180 Degree Hybrid Coupler
180 degree hybrid couplers split an input signal in to two equal signals with a 180 degree phase differential. 180 degree hybrids typically have a lower insertion loss than resistive power dividers or combiners.
The key specifications to look for in 180 degree hybrids are:
Frequency (MHz): This is the frequency at which the rf hybrid operates.
Average Power (W): The power level that the hybrid device can handle while maintaining consistent performance.
Insertion Loss (dB): The loss in the signal when the input signal is split into two is know as the insertion loss. The lower the insertion loss the better the performance of the hybrid.
Package Type: RF and microwave hybrids are available in a number of package types – Surface Mount, Modules with Connectors – SMA Hybrids, BNC Hybrids etc.
