Heavy Duty LTE Multiband Antenna for Harsh Environments

PCTEL has introduced a new heavy duty antenna designed for tracking heavy equipment assets and fleet management applications. The Rhino Dual LTE antenna provides maximum shock absorption for high impact applications and defends against damage from extreme environmental conditions or exposure to vandalism.

Originally developed for defense applications, the Rhino antenna effectively serves heavy equipment applications, including mining installations, construction equipment, rail and mass transit, and agriculture equipment. It is also ideal for M2M fixed or mobile applications requiring extra protection against vandalism.

Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications for process automation, machine control, and mission critical communications require reliable high bandwidth connectivity. Ruggedized antenna solutions that can deliver optimized RF performance and withstand harsh environments are crucial for these applications. PCTEL continues to utilize sophisticated RF modeling tools and manufacturing technologies to develop robust antenna solutions that meet market demands.

The Rhino dual LTE antenna provides optimal 4G LTE coverage in a single, low profile package. The antenna also incorporates PCTEL’s unique SkyLink high rejection GPS/GLONASS technology that provides precise GNSS timing and tracking accuracy, even in the presence of interference and support of carrier voice and data networks. Glass reinforced polycarbonate housing and a heavy duty metal base plate makes this antenna extremely rugged and ideal for heavy equipment applications susceptible to high shock impact, including mining, agriculture, construction and defense vehicles. Dual LTE elements are configured with added separation to maximize RF efficiency and performance of Global 4G LTE networks.

PCTEL is demonstrating the Rhino antenna at the Trimble Dimensions User Conference 2016, November 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
