One Handheld Device to Handle All RFID Measurements

CISC has introduced a new compact and portable high-precision RFID test instrument. It can be used to measure the performance of RFID devices and application setups, verify conformance and support the development of readers, tags and ICs. Using their UHF RFID test and measurement expertise, CISC advanced the CISC RFID Xplorer with latest SDR (software defined radio) technology and software to provide UHF RFID / RAIN RFID / EPC Gen2 / ISO/IEC 18000-63 measurement capabilities.

The CISC RFID Xplorer is designed for open area tests and as a high-precision solution for measurements in an RF controlled environment using a portable or fixed RF test chambers. The system is supplied with software and a reference tag for self-calibration. It can be controlled using a graphical user interface (GUI) and has an application programming interface (API) for the development of user-defined test sequences within standard development environments.

The system measures 160 x 205 x 50 mm, making it the smallest, professional RIFD measurement tool on the market, which allows flexibility and easy transport. Dismantling and set-up can be accomplished within minutes, saving time and guaranteeing user friendly handling.

Tag performance and conformance tests, reader performance and conformance tests, and sniffer with tag emulator now works in a single compatible hardware device. Some of advantages of this setup are:

  • One single device with highest measurement sensitivity solves all RFID challenges pertaining to performance, conformance and verification of application setups.
  • Easy monostatic setup for testing the performance of the tag and the sensitivity of the reader. It also offers the possibility of converting into a bistatic set up as per the measurement requirement.
  • Better ROI on RFID measurements in-house due to the very low hardware investment and scalable, flexible software extensions.

In addition to enabling all functionality in one device, CISC has also launched new features for its software to enhance the usability of the RFID Xplorer. Some of the key new features are:

  • Xplorer reader test has the added functionality of emulating multiple tags.
  • Sniffer now supports high-level analysis of air interface communication.
  • New features for 2D and 3D graphs and loading pre-defined settings on the Tag performance tester.
