Low Phase Noise Rubidium Atomic Oscillator Module

IQD has released a new high performance rubidium oscillator. The IQRB-2 oscillator delivers a low phase noise of -112 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz and -158 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz. It is housed in a 95.5 x 62.5 x 44.3 mm module which can  be used in a 1U rack. Its electrical connections include an SMA connector for the RF output, RS232 connectors RX & TX, a voltage control input and a frequency locked monitor. With a short term stability 100 times better than a typical Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO) at 0.002 ppb/s at 100s, this model is ideal for frequency calibration, Long Term Evolution (LTE) base stations, high speed wireless communications and surveillance applications.

Based on an atomic clock, the IQRB-2 delivers an accuracy of ±0.3 ppb irrespective of temperature fluctuations from -20 to 65 °C and operates at a standard frequency of 10 MHz with a Sinewave 50 Ohm output. The ageing is ±0.05 ppb per month and the IQRB-2 has a voltage control option to give a controllable frequency tuning of ±2 ppb max. The module is specified with a supply voltage of 12 V, although the product will operate over a voltage range of 12 V to 18 V, with a power consumption of 6 W when stabilised and a warm up time of typically 5 minutes. The device can be operated over a temperature range of -20 to +65 degrees C with a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of approximately 100,000 hours. Click here to know more.
