AT&T to Launch 5G Services in 20+ Metros by End of this Year

AT&T will be launching its next generation 5G services by the end of 2017 in over 20 metro areas. Customers in select areas of Austin, with a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ will be the first to get the access for faster 5G Evolution internet speeds.

AT&T plans to start the launch of the new 5G Evolution service in Indianapolis this summer. After which, they will begin the rollout in other metros. Some of the major metros include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, San Francisco and others.

In Austin, AT&T 5G promises to offer twice the speeds of their own 4G LTE network which will be accessible by customers on almost all AT&T data plans with a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8+ device. These faster speeds allow reduced gaming lag and less buffering when watching videos while on the go. By the end of the year, AT&T plans to offer numerous other devices that can take full advantage of the 5G Evolution experience.

According to the telecom giant, customers can expect to see their data speeds increase as they continue to invest in wireless network by adding small cells and using advanced 5G Evolution achieved through upgrades like carrier aggregation, 4x4 MIMO, 256 QAM and more.
