Dassault Falcon Jets to be Equipped with Honeywell's Ka-band Global Connectivity System

Dassault Aviation has selected Honeywell’s JetWave Ka-band system as the high speed in-flight connectivity option for the new Falcon Jet aircraft. Initial installations are already underway with their first delivery expected this summer. Honeywell's JetWave antennas and hardware enable business aviation aircrafts to connect to Inmarsat's high-speed Jet ConneX service. Jet ConneX is the first consistent high-speed broadband service available to business aviation users from a single operator. Once installed, the system will allow Dassault fliers to enjoy video streaming and phone calls, music and movie downloads, access to private company networks, online shopping, and much more through a global network with significantly fewer signal drops than other connectivity services, even as the jet flies over oceans.

Based on a wider wireless frequency pipe than other global satellite networks, Honeywell's system enables global Ka-band connection. Honeywell's JetWave is now available as an option for installation aboard new Falcon 900LX, Falcon 7X, Falcon 8X, Falcon 5X business jets with initial delivery in mid-2017. For existing Dassault customers, Honeywell's JetWave hardware is available for current installation on the Falcon 7X and Falcon 900 Series aircraft. JetWave will also be available as a retrofit on in-service Falcons and as an upgrade option on aircraft that are already equipped with other SATCOM solutions.

The system includes a control unit, modem and router and a tail-mounted radome antenna that can connect business aircraft to Jet ConneX, the high speed connectivity service based on the Inmarsat Global Xpress Ka-band satellite network which offers data rates up to 15 Mbps. Global Xpress enables passengers to browse the internet, stream videos or video conference anywhere in the world, over land or over water, as if they were in their office or at home.
