New PXI Integration Platform Compatible with NI PXI Modules

Astronics Test Systems has introduced a new PXI Integration platform that provides a starter “system-in-a-box” for engineers to rapidly create and configure new test, measurement, or other systems based on National Instrument's versatile PC-based platform for measurement and automation systems.

The ATS-3100 PXI Integration Platform is a modular system with which engineers can integrate instruments from any vendor or specific instruments from Astronics Test Systems in their configuration. Available PXI instruments from Astronics currently include a digitizer, pulse pattern generator, waveform generator, frequency time and interval counter, rubidium, and digital test instrument. The configurable platform also future proofs finished test systems with the ability to upgrade instruments and software at any time.

The new PXI Solution provides an easier process for system designers to create new PXI-based solutions by eliminating the time wasted in configuring and debugging complex cabling or the custom integration of instruments. It offers a streamlined, deployable solution that does all the hard work with a simple plug n play connection for instruments and installation of basic softwares.

The ATS-3100 PXI Integration Platform saves engineers time, complexity, and non-recurring engineering (NRE) costs in developing next-generation PXI-based systems. Engineers can start with the basic set of technologies and focus time and energy on building final, polished solutions for any variety of applications such as testing, measuring, stimulating, computing, and monitoring. The ATS-3100 serves as a building block for desktop or rack-mount test systems in R&D and manufacturing environments.

Highlights of ATS-3100’s features include:

  • An 18-slot hybrid PXI/PXI Express chassis
  • Latest National Instrument backplane technology
  • Reconfigurable front and rear panels for customer defined I/O for a variety of applications
  • Internal cable and connection management
  • Large touchscreen display
  • Controller
  • Mechanical packaging
  • Compatibility with TestStand or LabVIEW software from NI

In addition to a standalone package, Astronics will also offer the ATS-3100 PXI Integration Platform as part of a turnkey solution in which it can provide the instruments and customization to create an entire system to customer requirements.

The company is showcasing the new Integration Platform for the first time at NIWeek in Austin, Texas from May 22 - 25, 2017.
