New 39 GHz 5G Silicon Quad Core IC Enables 3GPP Compliant Base Stations

Anokiwave has launched its first product in a new family of second generation 5G Silicon Quad Core ICs that enable 3GPP compliant base stations.

The AWMF-0156 is a highly integrated silicon quad core IC intended for 5G phased array applications that operates from 37.1 - 40.0 GHz. The device supports four Tx/Rx radiating elements, includes all requisite beam steering controls for phase and gain control, and operates in half duplex fashion to enable a single antenna to support both Tx and Rx operation. The device provides 25 dB gain and +13.5 dBm adjustable output power during transmit mode and 30 dB coherent gain, 6.5 dB NF, and -21 dBm IIP3 during receive mode. Additional features include gain compensation over temperature, temperature reporting, Tx power telemetry, and fast beam switching using on-chip beam weight storage registers. The device features ESD protection on all pins, operates from +1.8 V and 2.5V supplies, and is packaged in a 3.6 mm x 3.6 mm WLCSP (wafer level chip scale package) for easy flip chip installation in planar phased array antennas.

Anokiwave’s patent-pending IP blocks implemented in silicon technology enable low-cost hybrid beam forming with high energy efficiency and low latency beam steering. Anokiwave offers evaluation kits for ease of adoption of the technology and capabilities. The kits include boards with the IC, USB-SPI interface module with drivers, and all required cables. Pilot production deliveries will be made available in May 2018. Click here to learn more about the AWMF-0156 5G Silicon IC.
