Anritsu's Bluetooth Test Set Now Supports the Bluetooth 5.1 Specification

Anritsu has announced that its Bluetooth Test Set MT8852B now supports the latest Bluetooth Core v5.1 (BT 5.1) specification for evaluating new key positioning services expected to see rapid growth in the Bluetooth market. The company has added the new BLE AoA/AoD Option MT8852B-037 to its Bluetooth Test Set MT8852B.

Installing this newly developed option in the MT8852B adds RF-signal Angle of Arrival (AoA) and Angle of Departure (AoD) measurements, helping development, testing, and manufacturing of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.1 devices and equipment. 

Although Bluetooth-based positioning services have been supported already before the first appearance of BT5.1, the higher position accuracy offered by AoA/AoD of BT 5.1 is expected to see widespread commercial adoption due to the better user experience. Adding this new AoA/AoD technology to now BLE in widespread use, offers exciting new applications, such as accurate inventory tracking, indoor navigation systems, etc.

The market appearance of various BT5.1 services and products is expected to increase the need for AoA/AoD RF measurements, which Anritsu’s MT8852B now supports.

The MT8852B supports the test procedures specified by the Bluetooth SIG RF Test Specifications for performing the various BR, EDR, BLE, Bluetooth Audio, etc., measurements required by developers, manufacturers, and vendors of Bluetooth chipsets, modules, etc. 

In addition, the MT8852B comes with PC application software for development work; as well as displaying test packets graphically, this application software also performs automatic Pass/Fail evaluation for test limits to simplify fault troubleshooting at the development and prototyping stages.

Lastly, in addition to having the patented Adaptive Frequency Hopping (AFH) test function for 2.4-GHz band WLAN equipment coexistence tests, the MT8852B also supports CombiTests, etc., for configuring automated turnkey solutions for mass-production testing.
