5G New Radio (NR) is the new OFDM-based global wireless standard for future 5G mobile networks. It has been designed to support the wide variation of 5G device-types, services, deployments and spectrum. This next generation cellular technology will succeed 4G LTE to provide considerably higher data rates and connectivity.

3GPP completed and published the first implementable 5G NR specification in December 2018. Click here to download the specification

Key Factor of 5G NR:

1. Frequency Bands: 5G NR supports wide range of frequency bands from sub-1 GHz to 100 GHz. A number of network provides are carrying out 5G NR trials in the 3.5 to 6 GHz Band, 28 GHz Band and the 38 GHz band. Click here to see 5G-New Radio Frequency Bands.

2. Data Rates: 5G NR will support Multi-Gbps data rates.

3. Advanced Technologies: To provide Multi-Gbps data rates and low latency required by 5G, the 5G NR standard will use a number of technologies such as Massive MIMO, Shared Spectrum technologies, Advanced coding etc.

Commercial Deployment of 5G NR planned for 2019, however many analysts and industry experts expect this to be delayed by 1-2 years.
