The Diamond X-band flat-plate antenna from Cobham Antenna Systems operates from 7.25 GHz to 8.4 GHz. The antenna consists of a two-dimensional array of novel, broadband, dual-polarised printed elements which are combined using beam formers and implemented in low-loss stripline transmission line technology. This novel antenna is constructed using a number of thin PCBs and ground planes positioned between foam layers, with the outermost layer acting as a weather-proof cover. It has two full-band SMA ports - one for left hand circular polarization and the other for right hand circular polarization which can be changed by switching ports. The antenna has an active aperture that measures 434 x 434 mm with the diagonal plane aligned to geostationary arc.
