The Model 8060 from Berkeley Nucleonics Corp is an Impedance Tuner / Generator that operates from 100 kHz to 6.0 GHz. It has been developed to conduct reliable, repeatable noise parameter measurements in the lab at a lower cost than mechanical tabletop systems. The generator has 4 impedance states with an impedance switch time of less than 1 ms between states and has a THRU state insertion loss of less than 3 dB. It has a solid-state design for fast measurements, an onboard temperature sensor for monitoring the internal temperature improving measurement accuracy, and memory that retains calibration data. The generator enables repeatable noise-parameter measurements of packaged and on-wafer devices and ensures flexibility and short test times.
The Model 8060 requires a DC supply from 4.75 to 5.25 V and consumes less than 90 mA of current. It can be controlled via USB-A 2.0 or a mini-USB interface. This impedance generator is available in a module that measures 8.00 x 4.00 x 2.50 cm and is optimized for Wi-Fi, WiMax, LTE, 3G, 4G, 5G, and Bluetooth applications. It is suitable for use in receiver design and sensitivity optimization, circuit noise performance characterization, device, and circuit modeling, electronic circuit debugging education and training applications.
A cryogenic option (Model 8060C) is also available and can be used for cold noise parameter measurements.
