The LS550G from Quectel is a GNSS Module that supports concurrent reception of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BDS, and QZSS constellations. It has a tracking sensitivity of -165 dBm and an acquisition sensitivity of -147 dBm. This module’s multi-constellation system increases the number of visible satellites, reduces the time to first fix, and improves positioning accuracy, especially in dense urban canyons. It has an ultra-compact SIP design to lower signal attenuation, reduce interference, and improve resistance to shock, moisture, and corrosion. This module integrates an LNA that delivers high sensitivity, facilitates high-accuracy positioning, enables fast signal tracking & acquisition, and enhances module performance even in challenging environments.
The LS550G uses enhanced prediction orbit on chip (EPOC) technology, an advanced AGNSS feature that enables the module to calculate and predict satellite orbits automatically by using the ephemeris data (valid for up to 3 days) stored in the internal RAM. This enables the module to obtain a position fix quickly, even at lower signal levels, while maintaining low power consumption. It has an adaptive low power (ALP) mode to help adaptively adjust its on/off time based on environmental and motion conditions to achieve a balance between positioning accuracy and power consumption.
The LS550G has an anti-jamming feature with an embedded multi-tone active interference canceller. It is available in a compact package that measures 5.0 x 5.0 x 1.05 mm and can be controlled via UART, I2C, and SPI interfaces. This module is ideal for power-sensitive & space-sensitive applications such as portable & wearable devices, and consumer & industrial applications including industrial PDAs.
