The UBX-M8230-CT from u-blox is an ultra low power GNSS chip for wearable and portable applications. The chip features the new Super-E mode (Super-Efficient) providing 3x power savings while maintaining at least 80% of position & speed accuracy in comparison to the traditional full power mode. The new Super-Efficient (Super-E) mode cuts the power consumption by two-thirds to a mere 20 mW with one position update every second so that there is almost no loss in accuracy.

The chip has a sensitivity of -167 dBm and provides concurrent reception of GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou in Super-E mode. The GNSS chip also supports message integrity protection, anti-jamming, and anti-spoofing, providing reliable positioning in difficult environmental conditions as well as in security attack scenarios. It is available in a 47 Pin WL-CSP package that measures 2.99 x 3.21 x 0.36 mm and is ideal for smart watches, sports wearables and fitness trackers, it can be used in trackers for assets, people, children and animals, to provide accurate and frequent location information with minimal impact on battery life. This chip is fully tested and qualified according to the JESD47 standard.
