The MAIA-100240 from Spectrum Control is a Front-End Quad Transmit-Receive Module that operates in the X-Band from 9 to 10 GHz. It is suitable for use in AESA RADAR applications. On the Tx side, it delivers a saturated output power of 5 W per channel for pulsed radars and intermittent CW applications. On the Rx side, it provides a gain of 25 dB with a noise figure of 3.6 dB. This module incorporates the latest GaN technology and allows the AESA array to be controlled pulse-by-pulse using direction cosines or scan patterns that can be pre-loaded with up to 512 steps. It has a power-efficient design that requires a single DC supply of 33 V and consumes less than 2 A of current.
This MAIA-100240 module consists of built-in protection and fault-detection circuits and also incorporates extensive self-test and status monitoring capabilities that provide real-time status monitoring for smart array management and logistics. It allows the user to provide calibration offsets to compensate for array edge effects and side-lobe reduction windowing functions. This module reduces array-level test requirements during series array production and allows it to be freely replaced within an array without affecting the beam pattern when in service. It is available in a through-hole package that measures 184.73 x 59.50 mm with SMPM-male connectors and is ideal for X-Band AESA radars and directional datalink system applications.
