How To Design Phased Arrays for 5G, Radar, and Satellite

Webinar Overview

Why this webcast is important:
Multi-channel phased arrays using beamforming and MIMO are key enablers in the next generation of 5G, Radar, and Satellite communications systems. However, phased array design and verification is complex and crosses multiple engineering disciplines & tools domains. Viewers will learn tools and techniques to connect baseband, RF, and antenna domains into a predictive, model-based engineering flow from spreadsheets to test.

This webcast starts at the system-level perspective and considers both transmitters and receivers, from 4x4 arrays up to 1000s of elements. We will answer such questions as:

  • Which beamforming architecture is best?
  • How many elements are needed?
  • What are the baseband, RF, and DC performance margins?

In just one hour, we will directly explore how each detail translates into final beamwidth, direction, sidelobe levels, then move from lower-level component variations and measured X-parameters up to moving, multi-user scenarios with synthetic environments.

Who should view:
System architects in R&D for 5G, Radar, and Satellite (“New Space”) will see new tools and techniques that reduce design & validation time to minutes. Beamforming and 5G/EW researchers will enjoy seeing how MATLAB can be connected to a wider range of tools. RF component and Antenna engineers can directly observe how their changes in ADS and 3DEM affect the higher level system performance. Finally R&D managers and System Verifiers will see new tools for earlier cross-validation.
