Sam Kusano
Industry Expert

Sam Kusano is an Industry Expert for Keysight Technologies’ Communications Solutions Group. Sam received his master’s degree in applied physics at Kyushu University, Japan in 2001. He has more than 20 years’ experience in measurement applications for RF test equipment including vector network analyzers, signal analyzers, and signal generators. Sam started his career in R&D at Agilent Technologies in 2001, designing RF & microwave circuits. Since 2007, he has been a marketing engineer, application engineer, and industry expert serving the wireless communications industry.

Murthy Upmaka, Ph.D.
Senior Applications Engineer

Murthy has been with Keysight Technologies for the past 20 years. He has a Ph.D. in physics and has published several papers in international journals. In his current role, Murthy enjoys working with various design engineers helping them design RF and microwave circuits and systems using Keysight’s design software tools. Currently, he is focused on the aerospace & defense sector and specifically on end-to-end system design flows.

Joel Dunsmore, Ph.D.
R&D Fellow

Since graduating from Oregon State University with an MSEE (1983), Joel Dunsmore has worked for Keysight Technologies (formerly Agilent and Hewlett-Packard) at the Santa Rosa Site. He received his Ph.D. from Leeds University in 2004. He is a Keysight R&D Fellow focused on component test. He was a principle contributor to the HP 8753 and PNA family of network analyzers, responsible for RF and microwave circuit designs in these products. Recently, he has worked in non-linear test including differential devices and mixer measurements, as well as modulated and spectrum measurements. He has received 26 patents related to this work and authored the “Handbook of Microwave Component Measurements”. He co-taught an RF course at the University of California, Berkeley, and presented several short courses and seminars through ARFTG, MTT and Keysight.

Rolland Zhang
Senior Product Manager

Rolland Zhang is the senior product manager for Keysight’s FieldFox RF handheld analyzers, based in Santa Rosa, California. Rolland has more than 20 years’ experience in the RF, microwave and wireless communications industry, specifically in the areas of communications infrastructure installation and maintenance, network engineering, optimization, and troubleshooting. He is currently responsible for developing the industry-leading RF and microwave handheld instrument, FieldFox, for wireless and aerospace & defense communications.

Gordon Strachan, Ph.D.
Senior Software Architect

Dr. Gordon Strachan is the Senior Software Architect for the Keysight X-Series Spectrum Analyzer Product Line. He is the technical lead for the hardware control firmware group and specializes in the alignments and calibrations of the measurement hardware. Gordon has more than 20 years’ experience in spectrum and signal analysis and holds numerous patents for novel measurement techniques. Gordon received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Greg Jue
5G System Engineer

Greg is a 5G Systems Engineer at Keysight Technologies working on emerging millimeter-wave applications beyond 50 GHz. Greg authored Keysight’s new whitepaper “A New Sub-Terahertz Testbed for 6G Research” and was a technical contributor to Keysight’s new “Engineering the 5G World” ebook. Greg has worked in Keysight’s 5G team, aerospace & defense applications team, high performance oscilloscopes team, and in the EEsof software team, specializing in 5G, WLAN 802.11ac, LTE, WiMAX, aerospace & defense and SDR applications. Greg wrote the design simulation section in the Agilent Technologies LTE book, and has authored numerous articles, presentations, application notes, and whitepapers including Keysight’s “Implementing a Flexible Testbed for 5G Waveform Generation and Analysis”. Greg pioneered combining design simulation and test solutions at Agilent Technologies, and has authored many application notes on combining simulation and test for emerging technologies. Before joining HP/Agilent in 1995, Greg worked on system design for the Deep Space Network at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Caltech University.
