Microwave wall couplers were originally devel-oped for room-to-room LAN connections, where inexpensive 2.4 GHz access points, operating as bridges, are connected on each side of a transmission blocking wall by microwave wall couplers. Now, with citywide WiFi becoming avail-able in many cities and towns, a new applica-tion for the couplers can simplify and improve wireless installation for many houses. Figure2 shows a passive antenna feed, with a panel antenna directly connected to a coupler. Inside the house an identical coupler receives the WiFi signal through the wall (or roof), which is then retransmitted by a wireless access point to computers and wireless devices inside.
