RIGOL Introduces Multi-Channel Coherent Microwave RF Source for Frequencies Up to 20 GHz

RIGOL Technologies announces a new RF Microwave Generator, the DSG5000 Series, that can generate up to 20 GHz carriers with high signal fidelity. These new generators are available with 2, 4, 6, or 8 independent RF channels packaged in a single 2U full width mainframe. The DSG5000 Series features impressive long term phase stability between channels of +/- 1 degree and is designed for high frequency signals in applications like radar and quantum research.

The DSG5000 Series RF Source can be controlled from a 3.5" touch screen interface and can generate up to 20 GHz signals with amplitude, frequency, phase, and pulse modulation capabilities. Compared with competitive solutions, the DSG5000 demonstrates excellent long-term stability for the highest accuracy in long-term verification applications. Measured at 10 GHz with a temperature variation of < 1°C the phase stability can be measured at less than 1° of phase deviation over 72 hours, see graph below.

RIGOL’s new DSG5000 RF Signal Source provides high signal purity with low phase noise measuring <-133dBc/Hz@1GHz, 10kHz offset, a fast switching speed of 3ms and an amplitude accuracy of +/- 1.1dB (typical). This generator allows a user to connect to an external display or control remotely via a LAN connection. USB and LAN interfaces are both standard for fast and easy system control of all the RF channels from any VISA programming interface.

These RF Signal Generators meet the needs of complex test setups like superconducting quantum computing, radar signal generation, MIMO, EMS, etc. Single or multiple qubit manipulation is the basis of complex quantum algorithms, the multi-channel coherent capability provides a stable base for realizing multiple qubits and stable vibration signals by generating multiple coherent and ultra-low phase noise microwave signals. Multiple units can also be cascaded to achieve multi-channel coherent output, supporting larger-scale qubit gate operations.

The DSG5000 Series offers a channel density eight times greater than the previous Rigol DSG3000B series. They can be controlled from a 3.5" touchscreen interface or remotely, with a local PC or via an internet connection: users can enter the IP address of the DSG5000 series into a web browser to open the Web Control software. The DSG5000 series also allows for the use of a wide range of external displays via an HDMI interface.
