The Under-Secretary of Telecommunications (Subtel) announced that 5G auction for the 3.4 – 3.8 GHz (n78) and 27.5 – 28.3 GHz (n257), which was supposed to take place in May 2020, has been delayed due to COVID-19.

In January 2020, a public discussion was conducted by Subtel on the technical model for its plans to auction spectrum in four bands including 700 MHz, AWS, 3.5 GHz and 28 GHz bands. It aims to auction 30-year concessions for these four bands.

A total of 20 MHz will be made present in the 700 MHz band, 30 MHz in AWS Band, 150 MHz in the 3.5 GHz band and 800 MHz in the 28 GHz Band.

Telecom operators Claro Chile, WOM and Entel have carried out 5G trials in the country.
