R&S Introduces Basic Handheld Directional Antenna for Locating Transmitters and Interferes

The HE400BC from Rohde & Schwarz is a basic handheld directional antenna for locating transmitters and interferes. It is part of the R&S HE400 antenna series and covers a frequency range from 8.3 kHz to 20 GHz. The antenna is a fully passive device and does not require a power supply.

The antenna is optimized to be used with the R&S PR200 portable monitoring receiver, the R&S PR100 portable receiver or the R&S FSH, the R&S Spectrum Rider FPH handheld spectrum analyzers as well as the R&S Cable Rider ZPH cable & antenna analyzer. The antenna consists of an antenna handle, a cable set and antenna modules. Five different antenna modules are available, allowing the reception of vertically or horizontally polarized signals. The antenna handle is fully passive and offers a cost-effective solution for Rohde & Schwarz as well as third party receivers and analyzers.

Key Features of R&S HE400BC

  • Distinct directional pattern
  • Very wide frequency range in a compact size
  • Fatigue-free operation due to antenna design and materials used, which keep weight to a minimum
  • Tripod thread and adapter thread for smartphone/tablet cradle
  • Exchangeable cable set between antenna and receiver

The R&S HE400BC doesn't require a power supply for operation since it doesn't have an LNA, making it a fully passive antenna solution. It offers the lowest insertion loss of its type and uses a manual compass for the user to check orientation or to change direction. The antenna handle is a cost-effective solution for receivers and analyzers, not just for those from Rohde & Schwarz but also for third-party receivers as well.
