SAG Develops Overmolded Brick Metal Tag for Use in Industrial and Healthcare Applications

SAG, a member of the RAIN RFID alliance, has developed an Overmolded Brick Metal Tag-PPS for industrial identification, process control, oil and gas asset management, and healthcare equipment sterilization applications. This RAIN RFID tag has been designed to operate at UHF frequencies (900 to 928 MHz) and is ideal for use in places where other types of tags do not work well on metallic surfaces and offers optimal performance in harsh environments.

The Overmolded Brick Metal Tag-PPS is built with Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS), a tough engineering plastic that helps the RFID tag deliver optimum performance under extreme working conditions or chemical exposure. It has an IP68-rating making it waterproof and offers enhanced resistance even against acids, shock, vibration and high temperatures.

The tag operates from 900 to 928 MHz and is based on the EPC Class 1 Gen2 V2 interface protocol standard. The tag uses an NXP Ucode 8 chip, has an EPC memory of 128 bits, and a TID memory of 96 bits. It provides a read range of up to 13 meters (42.6 ft) and is designed to simplify reading objects over a long range. This on-metal tag is available in a screw-mount package that measures 54 x 36 x 12.5 mm with an option for industrial-grade adhesive or zip tie mounting to minimize installation time.
