Withwave Offers a Wide Range of Vertical Launch Solderless PCB Connectors from DC to 110 GHz

Withwave, a designer and developer of a broad range of RF & Microwave Test Solutions and subsystems, is offering a range of vertical launch PCB connectors that operate over a wide frequency range from DC to 26.5 GHz, 40 GHz, 50 GHz, 67 GHz, and 110 GHz. These connectors are specially designed to enable a solderless vertical PCB launch on test & measurement boards. They offer excellent electrical transition performance over the operating frequency range while reducing installation time by eliminating the need for soldering.

The connectors are offered in five different types and they are SMA, 2.92 mm, 1.85 mm, 2.4 mm, and 1.0 mm. All of the configurations provide excellent vertical transition performance and installation on the designed PCB substrate.

Key Features of Vertical Launch Connector Types Offered by Withwave

SMA Connectors: Withwave offers SMA-type vertical launch connector types that operate from DC to 26.5 GHz. They have a VSWR of 1.3:1 and an impedance of 50 ohms. These connectors are available in both male and female configurations and can be launched on both microstrip and stripline traces. They have a stainless steel body and block, and a BeCu (gold plated) pin.

2.92 mm Connectors: The 2.92 mm vertical launch connector types operate from DC to 40 GHz. They have a VSWR of 1.3:1 and an impedance of 50 ohms. These connectors are also available in both male and female configurations and can be launched on both microstrip and stripline trace lines. They have a stainless steel body and block, and a BeCu (gold plated) pin.

2.4 mm Connectors: The 2.4 mm vertical launch connector types operate from DC to 50 GHz. They have a VSWR of 1.3:1 and an impedance of 50 ohms. These connectors are also available in both male and female configurations and can be launched on both microstrip and stripline trace lines. They have a stainless steel body and block, and a BeCu (gold plated) pin.

1.85 mm Connectors: 1.85 mm connectors operate over a frequency range from DC to 67 GHz. These connectors have a VSWR of 1.6:1 and an impedance of 50 ohms. They include both male and female configurations and are compatible with both microstrip and stripline trace lines. These connectors have a stainless steel body and block, and a BeCu (gold plated) pin.

1.0 mm Connectors: The 1.0 mm connector configuration operates from DC to 110 GHz. They have a VSWR of less than 1.6:1 and an impedance of 50 ohms. They are available with female termination and can be inserted on microstrip trace lines. These connectors have a stainless steel body and block, and a BeCu (gold plated) pin.

These connectors, owing to their solderless installation, are suitable for seamless integration into test and measurement boards, high speed digital test boards, and other test/characterization applications.

Additionally, Withwave provides a 3D model overview in a STEP file that shows a mechanical layout of every connector offered. The company also offers ANSYS HFSS models (available from version 17.0 or newer) to develop 3D electromagnetic (EM) simulations for the connectors.
