The R&S ADD253 from Rohde & Schwarz is a Portable Direction-finding (DF) Antenna that operates from 20 MHz to 3 GHz. This vertically polarized antenna has active/passive switchable elements with variable electrical length for optimal adaptation to the receive frequency (20 MHz to 1.3 GHz). It has nine antenna elements for the VHF/UHF range and eight antenna elements for the UHF range. The antenna provides a typical DF accuracy of 1º RMS and has an integrated lightning rod that offers protection from lightning events.
The R&S ADD253 can be installed on vehicle roofs with the R&S AP502Z1 vehicle adapter or can be mast-mount by means of an R&S ADD150A mast adapter. For more portable applications, it can be mounted over the R&S ADD1XTP tripod. The DF antenna is also available in the R&S ADD-LP version that provides extended lightning protection under harsh ambient conditions. It is ideal for application in fixed/mobile/transportable spectrum monitoring stations and semi-mobile/stationary intelligence communication platforms.
