Time and Frequency Standards

Time and frequency standard is an instrument that consists of GNSS receiver and high stability oscillator (OCXO/Rubidium/Cesium oscillators). The oscillator output is phase-locked to the GNSS reference signal or other external input signals (as a backup to GPS/GNSS system), thereby providing extremely accurate & stable time & frequency output. The time and frequency standard can be used as a primary reference source in applications that require maintaining high accuracy in time and frequency.

Some time and frequency standard products contain more than one oscillator for optional use; for example, it may consist of TCXO, OCXO, CSAC, or Rubidium oscillator options. The time and frequency standard system can have multiple outputs with multiple output signal formats such as sine, square wave, or 1PPS output.

Time and frequency standards are ideal for use in applications such as communication, military, telemetry test fields, 4G, 5G, field calibration, frequency reference for DTV, DAB, VHF, UHF, CDMA, Tetra, etc., calibration of frequency counters and other test equipment, network time protocol in banks, financial companies, utilities, 2-way radio workshops, TV studios, and many other applications which require an accurate source of frequency and time.

Important Parameters when Looking for Time and Frequency Standard:

  • Operating Frequency: It is the stable frequency range(s) of the output signal(s).
  • Oscillator Type: The type of oscillator type(s) used by the time and frequency system.
  • Frequency Accuracy: It is the deviation between output signal frequency and desired signal frequency, is expressed in ppb (parts per billion).

everything RF lists Time and Frequency Standards from the leading manufacturers. Use the parametric search tools to narrow down on products based on your requirement.
