LTE Cat 1 (LTE Category 1) is an LTE user equipment (UE) category that defines the performance and specifications – such as data rate, power, type of modulation, bandwidth, etc. – of LTE Cat 1 UE. It has a UE bandwidth of 20 MHz and supports data rates of 10 Mbit/s in the downlink and 5Mbit/s in the uplink. LTE Cat 1 UEs require two receiver antennas, have a latency from 50 to 100 ms and support full-duplex operation. The equipment supports power-saving modes with extended idle and sleep modes.
