The R&S®ATS1800C from Rohde & Schwarz is a CATR-based 5G-NR Over-The-Air (OTA) test chamber for measuring 5G NR mmWave signals from 23.5 to 44.3 GHz. This 3GPP-compliant chamber has a bidirectional parabolic reflector that collimates beams from the feed antenna or DUT and has quiet zone of 30 cm or even 40 cm depending on the reflector size selected. The reflector has rolled edges that are modelled to minimize scattering while the surface is precisely polished to improve performance at high frequencies. It includes a positioner that enables smooth movement for fast and accurate measurements and supports heavy DUTs. The built-in hardware trigger functionality supports fast measurements which leads to shorter test times.
The R&S®ATS1800C can be equipped with two side chamber extensions forming a unique 3D quiet zone, with which the test solution can support very small footprint RRM measurements including multiple angles of arrival (AoA). It can be equipped with an automatic feed switcher for up to four different selectable feed antennas on motorized movers. Single fixed feeds are also available for measurements in frequency ranges other than the major 5G FR2 frequency bands. This test chamber has an option for a camera that can monitor the DUT at all times and can be easily switched to infrared vision for checking the device heatmap while testing.
This OTA test chamber has wheels that make it easy to transport and it can fit through most doors in R&D labs and test houses. It can quickly and accurately test a wide range of 5G DUTs such as modules, smartphones and even laptops and small cells. The chamber provides the ideal environment for testing 5G FR2 antennas, modules and devices from R&D to conformance.
