Treshold Detectors

A threshold detector is a device that outputs a TTL/ RS-485/LVPECL/ECL compatible signal when the input RF signal level exceeds a preset threshold.  Typically, a threshold detector circuit consists of a diode-based RF detector, precision integrated circuit operational amplifier, comparator, and a temperature compensated voltage reference.

Threshold detectors are available with fixed or adjustable threshold level options. In the case of adjustable threshold detectors, the preset threshold value can be adjustable by an external resistor or voltage control. These detectors are ideal for use in amplifier input & output protection, wireless receiver input protection, channel activity monitoring, excessive VSWR indicator, RF pulse detection & triggering, gain switch control, test & measurement, electronic warfare, AM noise measurement, radar, military, space applications.

Important Parameters when Looking for Threshold Detectors:

  • Operating Frequency: It is the operating frequency range for which the device is fully functional and provides the best performance.
