Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the R&S®PR300, a new portable monitoring and direction-finding receiver with 125 MHz real-time bandwidth and high-speed scanning of more than 500 GHz/s. The device has been specifically engineered to cope with the increasing demand for greater bandwidth and signal quality in the modern electromagnetic spectrum.
The PR300 expands the real-time bandwidth available in the handheld monitoring segment to keep pace with cellular technology as it trends toward higher bandwidths, which current high-data-rate applications require. The PR300 ensures seamless detection of even the most complex wideband signals from 8 kHz to 8 GHz (with an extension option up to 33 GHz), especially in unknown signal environments, and offers a high-performance preselection functionality.
Advanced features designed for field efficiency, such as segmented panorama scan, embedded spectrum analysis functions, and direction finding (DF) on time-gated signals, further enhance the hardware. Despite its portable size, the PR300 has all the professional features of the R&S®PR200 — including a frequency range from 8 kHz to 8 GHz, time domain analysis, and I/Q recording and analysis- all with a much more user-friendly interface.
The versatile tool is designed for a broad range of applications, ranging from radio monitoring measurements in line with ITU recommendations for civil authorities, ensuring quality of service (QoS) for network operators, along with military and intelligence applications. Whether finding interfering signals in commercial 5G or LTE networks or supporting license-compliant spectrum usage at major events, the PR300 has the speed and accuracy necessary for modern spectrum clearance. The PR300 is seamlessly compatible with existing R&S handheld antennas and compact DF antennas.
"The PR300 is a future-proof tool with uncompromising RF performance and operability for regulatory bodies and security services, all in a portable form factor. The seamless integration into the R&S antenna landscape and the expansion to 125 MHz real-time bandwidth help users maintain a complete overview, even for the latest wideband technologies," says Gunnar Zigan, Product Manager at Rohde & Schwarz.
