Hirose Electric Introduces RF Coaxial Connector for Video Transmission & Antenna Communication up to 6 GHz

Hirose Electric, a manufacturer of interconnect solutions, has introduced the KMA01 Series RF coaxial connector designed for high-frequency signal transmission in compact systems. The announcement relates to the product introduction and its intended use in applications such as automotive, industrial, and embedded systems.

The KMA01 Series is an RF coaxial connector supporting frequencies up to 6 GHz with a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of less than 1.50:1. They feature a low-profile design with both wire-to-board and wire-to-wire configurations, allowing integration into different system layouts. The connector supports Ø3.0 coaxial cable and is available in straight and right-angle configurations to accommodate varied PCB routing requirements. Their construction includes automotive-grade materials designed for operation under vibration and temperature variation, with components such as gold-plated contacts, brass structures, and insulated housings.

The connectors are intended for RF signal transmission in video and antenna communication systems. They support a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω (±5%) and operate across a temperature range from -40°C to +105°C. Electrical characteristics include a contact resistance of up to 50 mΩ initially and 100 mΩ after testing, rated current of 1 A, insulation resistance of at least 100 MΩ, and a withstanding voltage of 500 V AC for one minute. The connectors are specified for up to 30 mating cycles and support applications including ADAS systems, infotainment displays, antenna modules, robotics, agricultural equipment, and communication devices.
