Antenova has introduced Petrosa (SR43W081) a PIFA (Planar Inverted Antenna) that operates on a ground plane with no clearance requirements. Petrosa operates in the 2.4 to 2.5 GHz and 4.9 to 7.125 GHz frequencies with 55% efficiency and 45% efficiency, respectively. It is compatible with WiFi 6E & WiFi 7 protocols and supports older versions of Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
The Petrosa antenna is a fully integrated on-ground PIFA antenna, requiring no clearance and minimum board space. Optimal performance requires Petrosa to be positioned on the long edge of the PCB. Designed for integration, this new WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 antenna operates from its small SMD footprint of 20 × 5 × 5 mm, suited for compact product designs.
Used in WiFi-enabled products that require high data rates and reliable connectivity, such as:
- Video cameras
- High-Definition video/Set-Top-Boxes
- Portable/Wearable devices
- Access points/Network devices
- PC-cards/Games console
- Immersive VR/AR & Telemedicine
- MIMO Systems
Antenova provides support for design with a provided reference design, which includes a matching network circuit.
Antenova’s engineering and design team follows an approach of Design for Integration (DFI), where the design approach is to create an antenna that a product designer can place on a PCB and conveniently integrate with the other circuits, rather than designing a product to fit around the antenna. The Petrosa antenna is the latest in Antenova’s family of lamiiANT antennas manufactured from high-performance dielectric laminate substrates.
