The EW Tuner from MPG is a Superheterodyne Microwave Tuner that operates from 500 MHz to 18 GHz. It is based on a standard SOSA-aligned open VPX architecture that offers a scalable, modular design for optimizing performance, reducing costs, and ensuring high-speed data transfer. This tuner consists of a front-end pre-selector, multi-frequency conversion processing, a local oscillator, and a down-converter. The pre-selector and multi-frequency conversion processing reject unwanted signals at the IF frequency for easier processing of complex modern wideband radar signatures. This tuner provides a gain of 20 dB and has a noise figure of 14 dB. It has a frequency resolution of 1 MHz and a tuning speed of 10 µs. This RF tuner has a spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) of more than 50 dB.
The EW tuner uses direct digital synthesis (DDS) technology to achieve precise frequency control in the local oscillator. This tuner is available in a 3U open VPX enclosure and is ideal for advanced ELINT, SIGINT, and RESM applications.
