The 0.5 mm Coaxial Connector interface is an ultra-compact, high-precision interface designed to support measurements up to 250 GHz. The 0.5 mm connector represents a recent evolution in coaxial interconnect technology. It emerged from collaborative development efforts between leading RF interconnect manufacturers who sought to extend measurement bandwidths beyond what 0.8 mm and 1.0 mm connectors could reliably support. The 0.5 mm connector maintains the industry-standard impedance of 50 Ohms, but achieving this within such a small form factor requires exceptional precision. These developments signal the beginning of broader industry acceptance and the gradual establishment of calibration and certification frameworks.
