Wavecontrol, a company that develops measurement solutions for electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure and monitoring, has incorporated RFSelectiQ into its portfolio of solutions for evaluating electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure. The system provides capabilities for both frequency-selective and code-selective analysis, supporting characterization of EMF signals and field levels in a range of scenarios.
RFSelectiQ performs measurements based on spectrum analysis to assess field levels across user-defined frequency bands. It allows multiple bands to be selected and measured simultaneously, enabling identification of contributions from different services or emitters in complex RF environments. The system combines frequency-selective and code-selective measurement methods in a single device.
Wavecontrol EMF exposure assessment solutions
Broadband measurement: The broadband measurement method provides an overview of the electromagnetic environment by capturing total contributions from all EMF sources across a wide frequency range. This supports identification of high-exposure areas and initial assessments and certification tasks. This solution includes broadband functionality for general EMF verification. For broadband measurements, Wavecontrol offers the SMP3 as a dedicated instrument.
Frequency selective measurement: Based on spectrum analysis, the field level is assessed in specific frequency bands selected by the user. Multiple bands can be defined and measured simultaneously. Includes frequency selective mode and scanner mode.
Code selective measurement: This method extrapolates the maximum exposure. Using signal de-modulation and decoding, it assesses EMF levels from specific parts of the signals (SSB and traffic beams). It is used to extrapolate to the maximum exposure as per standards.

RFSelectiQ is composed of two separate elements:
- The Viavi OneAdvisor, which serves as the analysis platform and performs frequency selective and code selective measurements.
- The Wavecontrol WTA8G5 triaxial isotropic antenna, designed to provide full band frequency coverage from 30 MHz to 8 GHz without changing antennas during measurements.
These components enable EMF exposure measurements in accordance with standards such as IEC, ITU, IEEE, ARPANSA, and other standards.
