MilliBox Introduces Fast Synchronized Trigger to Accelerate Antenna Testing

MilliBox, a provider of compact benchtop mmWave anechoic chambers and antenna positioners, will introduce a new feature called Fast Synchronized Trigger (FST) for its modular series of 3D antenna positioners, GIM04 and GIM05. FST is a physical link between the positioner azimuth controller and a measurement instrument trigger input. This dedicated link allows the instrument to take snapshot captures of the antenna radiation pattern on the fly, eliminating the need for stop-and-go motion. Because the over-the-air radiation pattern is collected on the fly, the acquisition time is reduced.

The feature works with instrument brands that support input trigger functions. In addition to reducing capture time, the motion remains smooth and reduces stress on the antenna under test and wiring. MilliBox is taking orders for the FST option on new versions of GIM04 and GIM05 and also offers retrofit options for existing products in the field.

“Fast Synchronized Trigger was an idea we had in mind for a long time”, says Jeanmarc Laurent, Vice President and founder of MilliBox, “but we needed real-time position synchronization pulses on the gimbal side, and this was eluding us. Now, large captures are at least 10x faster, which is a very significant time savings for our customers, and we want as many users as possible to benefit from this breakthrough.”

The company will demonstrate FST at IMS 2026, the IEEE International MTT Symposium, taking place June 7–12, 2026, at the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, where MilliBox will exhibit at Booth 13075.
