everything RF @ IMS 2026: Micross Showcases Integrated RF Design, Manufacturing, and Test Capabilities

At IMS 2026, everything RF spoke with Jeffrey Maeda, Business Development Manager at Micross High Reliability RF. At their booth (#23042), Jeff spoke about the company’s capabilities across the RF and microwave microelectronics value chain. Maeda explained that Micross positions itself as an end-to-end provider, supporting customers from the early stages of device and package design through manufacturing, testing, screening, and final qualification.

Micross’s RF portfolio is built around several core technology areas. These include high-power PIN switches, GaAs FET technologies, and both GaN- and GaAs-based amplifiers. The company also develops multifunction RF modules, with an emphasis on integrating multiple RF functions into compact packages.

The company supports both low-noise amplifier (LNA) and power amplifier designs, reflecting its ability to address different performance requirements within the same platform. Maeda emphasized integration as a central theme, particularly for applications where size, weight, and performance constraints are critical.

A significant part of the conversation focused on the company’s manufacturing and test capabilities. Maeda highlighted a range of in-house processes, including automated pick-and-place assembly, ball wire bonding, and wedge wire bonding. He also pointed to Micross’s RF testing capabilities that extend up to 50 GHz, as well as qualification and screening services designed for high-reliability environments.

The discussion also covered the company’s role in supporting aerospace and defense programs. Maeda noted that Micross is involved in applications linked to organizations such as NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), where reliability and compliance standards are particularly stringent. The company provides testing and screening services in line with established military standards, including MIL-STD-883 and MIL-STD-750.
