The R&S ZN-ZCG from Rohde & Schwarz are Comb Generators that operate from 10 MHz to 44 GHz or 67 GHz. They are designed for performing precision phase calibration of the R&S ZNA vector network analyzer, amplifiers, and frequency converters. These comb generators provide a phase-characterized spectrum analysis of frequency harmonics, which serves as a reference signal for accurate phase calibration in wideband receivers as per NIST standards.
The generators primarily operate in three different modes – R&S ZNA system error correction, evaluation for verification and optimization, and standalone & system integration. These systems also act as pulse generators that produce equally spaced pulses with pulse widths as narrow as 20 ps, supporting wideband mixer and harmonic phase testing. They provide an output power of more than -83 dBm, have a phase uncertainty of ±2.0°, and a picket (frequency component) spacing from 100 MHz to 1 MHz.
The R&S ZN-ZCG comb generators allow users to utilize a single connection from this generator to an R&S ZNA port for adding receiver phase calibration capability to the system error correction phase. These comb generators also use R&S SMARTerCal calibration technology during phase calibration for accurate measurements of receivers. They can be remotely controlled with SCPI commands via a LAN interface to perform embedding/de-embedding for test set response correction. These generators can be powered via PoE and consume less than 14 W of power. They are available in an enclosure measuring 4.60 x 4.13 x 1.77 inches and have 2.92 mm (female) & 1.85 mm (female) connectors.
