Prometheus

The Prometheus from Filtronic is a Power Amplifier that operates from 47.2 to 52.4 GHz (V-Band). This amplifier system is designed for long-range communications in the V-Band, particularly for satellite ground station uplinks. It delivers a saturated output power of up to 500 W with a gain of 70 dB. This power amplifier system combines GaN technology with Filtronic’s Cerus 32 solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs), thereby offering scalable deployment for various high-frequency applications. It exhibits excellent linearity, which provides resilience and long-term reliability in challenging environments.

The Prometheus also supports expansion from single units to multi-module configurations and includes built-in redundancy with graceful degradation modes to maintain functionality under fault conditions. This amplifier’s design eliminates the need to utilize harmonic filters to suppress harmonic levels, which reduces the overall complexity.  It provides control and monitoring capabilities via Ethernet or serial interfaces using SNMP v3 to ensure a secure network. This power amplifier is available in a rugged enclosure and is ideal for mission-critical RF applications.
