The AM4080A from Polyphase Microwave is a Quadrature Modulator that is ideal for converting baseband I/Q modulation directly to RF. It operates from 4 to 8 GHz with an I/Q bandwidth from DC to 300 MHz. This modulator supports all bandpass RF modulation types, including BPSK, QPSK, QAM, OFDM, AM, FM, PM, FMCW, and pulsed Doppler. The modulator has a LO power of less than 6 dBm, a conversion loss of 7 dB, and -35 dBm of LO leakage at the RF port. The LO leakage is factory nulled at the center LO frequency.

The AM4080A includes an I/Q mixer, LO amplifier, I/Q lowpass filters, and I/Q differential amplifiers. It can be interfaced directly with single-ended or differential I/Q sources, including most high-speed DACs. The modulator has an input IP3 of 23 dBm, requires a supply of 5V, and can be driven by single-ended I/Q signals. It is suitable for direct conversion transmitter applications.
