The Kestrel u5 from Kymeta is a Satellite Terminal that operates from 13.75 to 14.50 GHz (Tx) and 10.7 to 12.75 GHz (Rx). It is designed to provide multi-network and multi-orbit (e.g. LEO and GEO) connectivity for demanding commercial rail, unmanned vehicles and vessels, and national security applications. This SATCOM terminal utilizes metamaterial-based beamforming technology that offers wide-angle coverage, allowing smaller platforms to remain connected, even in harsh conditions. It contains no moving parts, making the terminal inherently resistant to mechanical shock and vibrations.
The Kestrel u5 satellite user terminal delivers an EIRP of 42.3 dBW and has a G/T of 9.2 dB/K on the broadside. It provides a cross-polarization isolation of more than 25 dB. This satellite terminal is supplied with passive cooling capability and requires no fans, enabling efficient thermal management. It consumes less than 200 W of power. This terminal is available in a patented, water-shedding radome measuring 60 x 60 x 8 cm and includes a cable (router connection) for simplified installation.
