The AM9058 from Mercury Systems is a Standalone Upconverter Tuner that operates from 0.9 to 18 GHz. It is designed for extreme space-constrained multi-channel applications and delivers high-performance transmit capability for electronic warfare, SIGINT, quantum computing, and advanced test environments. This upconverter consists of sub-octave post-selector filters, driver amplifiers, frequency-conversion stages, power-conditioning circuitry, and a flexible LO architecture. It also includes a bypass path for direct spectrum transmission and supports either independent or phase-coherent operations by connecting multiple modules, enabling use in multi-channel transmit architectures.
The AM9058 upconverter tuner provides 6 dB of gain with a 16 dB gain control. It has an output P1dB of 10 dBm, provides more than 70 dB of image rejection, and has a phase noise of -100 dBc/Hz (at 100 kHz offset). This upconverter has a tuning speed of 100 µs and incorporates an integrated temperature sensor for system monitoring. It can be controlled remotely using an SPI interface. This tuner requires 3.3 V or 5 V DC supplies and consumes less than 5.5 W of power. It is available in a low-SWaP module measuring 4.00 x 0.75 x 0.38 inches.
