The BCM6718 from Broadcom is a Wi-Fi 8 Radio Chip that operates in the 2.4/5/6 GHz bands. It is designed to deliver high connectivity and reliability to the next-generation of 802.11bn access points, routers, and extenders. This chip consists of a radio sub-system, 802.11bn MAC/PHY processor, an ARM core, memory, security features, and interfaces. It supports 4-channel streams with 4x4 MIMO and uses modulation schemes such as OFDMA and 4K-QAM for high throughput. This radio chip also supports channel bandwidths of 20/40/80/160/320 MHz and delivers a data rate of 11.5 Gbps (320 MHz).
The BCM6718 supports several other features to improve channel capacity – DSO, NPCA, Co-SR/Co-BF, and DBE and extend range using robust techniques such as advanced LDPC codes and distributed resource units. This radio chip provides comprehensive network security through WPA, WPA2/WPA3, and AES encryption and decryption. It requires a DC supply and is available in a package. This Wi-Fi 8 chip is suitable for use in intelligent networks (AI), delivering high Quality of Service (QoS) and power efficiency.
