Mini-Circuits Introduces Dual-Channel Signal Generator from 8 to 12.5 GHz for X-Band Applications

Mini-Circuits has introduced the SSG-8N12GD-RC, a dual-channel wide-band signal generator operating from 8 to 12.5 GHz. It is an ideal signal source for the characterization of millimeter wave components and systems at high power, delivering a dynamic range of -55 dBm to +23 dBm to two independent channels capable of coherent or non-coherent operation over 360°° of phase range. This multi-mode generator offers CW, pulsed, AM, FM and chirp modulation options as well as automated sweep and hop sequences over frequency and power.

Controlled via USB, Ethernet and PoE interfaces, the SSG-8N12GD-RC can also be daisy-chain-connected to control multiple modules on one control line. The daisy-chain control interface with “dynamic addressing” simplifies control integration and allows multiple units to be combined into a multi-channel signal source with control through a single software interface.

SSG-8N12GD-RC has been developed in a compact package with powerful software control and automation to provide a cost-effective X-band signal generator and LO source for any bench or production test application. The dual-channel generator is housed in a 3.6 x 5.1 x 1.2” enclosure with an LCD, making it a portable, space-efficient solution from bench to field or module easily integrated into a system. Full software support is provided, including Mini-Circuits’ user-friendly GUI application for Windows, flexible API and programming instructions for Windows and Linux environments. This is a high-quality, repeatable and reliable signal source with low phase noise and excellent harmonic rejection.
