ED2 Corporation Introduces 38.5 GHz Bandpass Filter for 5G and Advanced RF Applications

ED2 Corporation, a provider of cutting-edge RF solutions including Phased Array Modules (PAM), Mixers, Switched Filter Banks, and Waveguide Antennas, has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of a 38.5 GHz Bandpass Filter. The BP385BW30SG Bandpass Filter is specifically designed for the 5G N260 mmWave band and supports a wide range of advanced wireless applications.

The BP385BW30SG Bandpass Filter is built on fused silica (glass) technology, delivering a high-performance yet cost-effective solution in a compact, surface-mount package. It offers a typical insertion loss of 1.2 dB across a 3,000 MHz bandwidth, ensuring efficient signal transmission with minimal power loss. With excellent rejection characteristics, the filter is an ideal roofing filter, complementing in-band channelization filtering in demanding RF systems. Its small size and consistent performance also make it highly repeatable across production, supporting scalability for commercial and defense applications.

The BP385BW30SG provides robust out-of-band rejection, with low-side rejection from DC to 34.5 GHz at –30 dB minimum and –40 dB typical, and high-side rejection from 44 GHz to 55 GHz at –35 dB minimum and –40 dB typical. The device can handle a maximum input power of +40 dBm and maintains stable operation over a wide temperature range of –55°C to +125°C. Measuring just 12.80 x 4.79 x 0.27 mm, the filter is a compact yet powerful component that meets RoHS compliance standards and features a moisture sensitivity level of MSL2A.

Among its standout features are low insertion loss, rejection performance extending up to 60 GHz, and extremely stable characteristics over temperature variations. The use of wafer-level processing contributes to reduced manufacturing costs, while maintaining high levels of precision and reliability. With a characteristic impedance of 50? and a surface-mount design, the filter is optimized for easy integration into next-generation RF systems.

The BP385BW30SG Bandpass Filter is designed to serve multiple applications, including mmWave 5G devices, n260 5G radios, radar systems, electronic warfare (EW), and other defense applications. Its versatility and high performance also make it suitable for general-purpose wireless communication systems, where stability, compact design, and cost-efficiency are critical.

By combining advanced engineering with practical manufacturing considerations, ED2 Corporation continues to strengthen its position as a trusted provider of RF solutions for both commercial and defense markets. The introduction of the BP385BW30SG highlights the company’s commitment to supporting next-generation connectivity and mission-critical wireless applications.
