L&T Semiconductor Technologies (LTSCT) has introduced the LCC40 LTE Cat 1bis IoT module, a compact, standards-compliant connectivity solution for machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. This connectivity module is designed in accordance with 3GPP Release 14 and supports LTE Cat 1bis operation, delivering data rates of up to 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink, providing a balanced combination of performance, coverage, and efficiency.
With its compact 17.7 × 15.8 × 2.3 mm LGA package, the LCC40 connectivity module enables easy integration into compact smart meters, tracking devices, and industrial IoT equipment. An optional built-in GNSS enables precise location tracking, supporting scenarios such as asset monitoring and fleet management. Powered by an ARM Cortex-M3 processor at 204 MHz, the module remains dependable in extended industrial temperature ranges.
The LCC40 module combines diverse interfaces and embedded protocols, such as USB 2.0, UART, SPI, GPIOs, ADC, audio interfaces, and dual SIM. It supports major IoT and internet protocols, including TCP/UDP, HTTP(S), MQTT(S), TLS, FTP(S), and NTP, for seamless integration with existing software. Compatibility with Windows and Linux streamlines development and deployment processes.
LTSCT has designed the module for low-power operation. It supports Power Saving Mode (PSM), DRX, and eDRX, enabling extended battery life in long-term field deployments. This IoT module's Device Firmware Over-the-Air (DFOTA) support allows remote firmware updates, reducing on-site maintenance requirements and improving overall device lifecycle management.
