Murata ID Solutions has inaugurated a new “RFID Experience & Innovation Hub” in Parma, Italy, to support RFID demonstrations, testing, workshops, and applied research for industrial and IoT applications.
The facility was launched in collaboration with the RFID Lab at the University of Parma and is intended to help companies and researchers validate RFID use cases and system performance in real-world conditions.
“This innovative and interactive space is a testament not only to the scientific and educational collaboration with the University of Parma but also to our commitment to supporting and stimulating innovation together with the industry, our customers and partners,” said Francesco Fantoni Guerci, CEO of Murata ID Solutions. “Our goal is to contribute to the advancement of technology. This new facility, where innovation can flourish, helps us honor that commitment. We look forward to welcoming all stakeholders to experience the Hub and collectively build the future of IoT and RFID.”
The hub features areas for hands-on testing, live demonstrations, and training activities that cover applications such as logistics, traceability, automotive systems, healthcare, and Industry 4.0.
Rector Paolo Martelli highlighted the role of the new facility in academic research and education. “The fact that Murata intends to make the Hub available to our academic community is great news, as it is an advanced facility that can be very important for students and researchers in the sector,” Martelli said. “It represents a significant opportunity for them to experiment and conduct research, helping to define future IoT and RFID solutions.”
He also pointed to the university’s role in the early development of the initiative. “I am pleased to highlight the role that the University of Parma played in the initial, originating phase of this journey,” Martelli said. “This is a concrete testament to the practical application of knowledge developed in academia with a strong focus on technological transfer.”
