The CAL77S344-AE from Calterah Semiconductor Technology is an Automotive-Grade mmWave Radar System-on-Chip (SoC) that operates from 76 to 81 GHz. It is a fully integrated solution that complies with the ASIL-B functional safety standard for automotive applications. This AEC-Q100 Grade 2-qualified SoC consists of 4 Tx channels with a phase shifter, 4 Rx channels with saturation detector, a dual-core 300 MHz ARC EM22FS CPU, an on-chip 3 MB RAM, a baseband processor, and a cybersecurity module. The baseband processor unit with a newly added DDM flow performs complete radar signal processing and this SoC uses built-in high-speed ADCs to sample the signals at 50 MSPS. It also has an FMCW waveform generator that allows users to configure chirp parameters such as AGC and frame interleaving.
The CAL77S344-AE supports multiple signal modulation schemes – TDM, DDM and BPM, along with a dedicated CQM engine for signal interference detection and digital phase scrambling for mitigation. This transceiver uses robust symmetric and asymmetric encryption and decryption, true random number generator, and hash algorithms to generate highly secure signals. It consists of peripheral interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, CAN-FD, SPI, QSPI, I2C, and UART for control. This mmWave SoC is available in a surface-mount package.
