The Flatpack Ka-12 watt from Mission Microwave is a Block Up Converter (BUC) that converts input frequencies from 950 to 1950 MHz/1000 to 2000 MHz (L-band) to output frequencies from 29 to 30 GHz/30 to 31 GHz (band-selectable). It is designed for use in harsh environments. This BUC combines Mission Microwave’s proprietary solid-state power combining technology with system optimization in a compact form-factor, resulting in a rugged amplifier design that can be mounted either directly to the feed port or embedded into SATCOM antennas, eliminating additional loss.

The Flatpack Ka-12 watt delivers an output power of 12 W with a gain of 60 dB and a gain variation of 4.0 dB p-p. It has in-band spurious levels of -60 dBc and a noise spectral density of -150 dBm/Hz. This BUC supports remote monitoring and control via RS485 and RS232 interfaces, with an optional OpenBMIP interface. It requires a DC supply between 22 and 54 V and consumes 90 W of power. This converter is available in a compact enclosure measuring 127 x 178 x 25 mm.
