The AMP5064 from Exodus Advanced Communications is a ruggedized Solid State Power Amplifier that operates from 13.75 to 14.5 GHz. It has been designed to replace aging TWT technology. The amplifier delivers a saturated output power of more than 100 W with a gain of 50 dB and excellent gain flatness as compared to TWT’s. The class A/AB amplifier requires a DC supply voltage of 40 V, draws up to 20 A of current and has built-in protection circuits with input power protection of up to +8 dBm. It is available in a rugged module that measures 240 x 180 x 30 mm with N-type connectors as standard and an optional WR62 Waveguide interface. The module provides current and temperature sensing for superb reliability and application ruggedness in a compact lightweight configuration. It is ideal for Ku-band continuous-wave linear applications.
